I love gardening.
This is one of the activities I can do alone, it is grounding and calming.
My garden is in a community garden here in my village in Switzerland. It is a town-owned lot of land, divided in about 16 pieces, and attributed to a few passionate gardeners like me.
There is one lady, who knows all plants name, who comes and makes conversations about how to treat and grow and make the best out of each seed I plant.
There is this other guy, who has been gardening in the community for the last 30 years, who speaks Italian (and I do too, so he’s happy to converse), and shares his veggies with everyone, because he cannot eat it all.
My neighbor is a garden specialist and I have the feeling my way of gardening drives him crazy.
I see gardening as a metaphor.(here is a tweetable) “The more I love my garden, the more it will love me back”. @arianestudio
And yes, I do let it grow a bit wildly, and yes I cannot take out a flower in the middle of the salads, but boy, my garden loves me back. Each season I can eat the fruits and veggies it grows. Spinach, fresh salads, onions, strawberries, raspberries, pumpkins etc.
My little secret: I dream of having chickens and bees one day.
So it’s not how perfect I am gardening, it’s not about having it under control, it is only about loving and respecting the growth.
It is about respecting my growth, it’s growth, our children’s growth, my business’s growth…
