Coffee & Childhood

Every morning my Dad, originally from Italy, ground the coffee beans, took a spoon, put the coffee in his Bialetti’s coffee machine, which was already prepared with the right amount of water, put it on the stove and let the water come up and create the most amazing dense, and tasteful little exotic drink. The smell filled up the whole 3 bedrooms where I lived with my parents and siblings in Geneva, Switzerland. I was waking up every morning with the beautiful fragrant of coffee.

Coffee is like my “Madeleine de Proust”. My Dad at almost 76 years old, still keeps his tradition and even if I do not drink anymore coffee,

Nowadays, I drink decaf, because coffee does not help my neurons, it makes them crazy and so fast, I can’t keep track of my own thoughts, but I still love the smell of it.

I find coffee romantic, as my husband brings it to me in the morning in bed. I find it comforting and cosy.

My favorite is the cappucino, with a little heart, just like this one.
